➡️ Situation ✅ Valid Claim? If the lead was working for a service like Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Instacart (Independent Contractor) ✅ Valid: ❌ Invalid: If the lead was employed by a company (e.g., FedEx, USPS, local business) 🧠 Tip for Agents

➡️ Situation

The lead was bitten by a dog while making a delivery to a home or business.

✅ Valid Claim?

It depends on whether the lead was working as an independent contractor or as a company employee:

If the lead was working for a service like Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Instacart (Independent Contractor)

These workers are independent contractors, so it may be a valid personal injury claim only if the animal had an identifiable owner.

✅ Valid:

The animal had an owner (e.g., belonged to the customer, was on a leash or inside a yard).

    Tag this under:
→ PI – Animal Attack (only if owner is confirmed)

❌ Invalid:

The animal was a stray .

→ Disqualify the animal attack claim and probe for other accidents

Note:

Agents must ask a probing question to confirm whether the animal had an owner.
Suggested question: “Was it someone’s pet or just a stray dog ?”

If the lead was employed by a company (e.g., FedEx, USPS, local business)

This would likely fall under workers' compensation, not personal injury.

Ask: “Were you employed by a company when it happened?”

📝 If the leads confirms that they was employed by a company, they could be eligible for a Workers Compensation claim and hence, the lead should be submitted under ‘Workers Compensation’.

🧠 Tip for Agents

If the lead says they were delivering but does not specify who they were working for, ask:
“Were you working as an independent contractor or were you working directly for a company?”

Only independent contractors should be submitted as ‘Personal injury- Animal Attacks’.
